SO-CAL Speed Shop®

Since its origins in 1946, the SO-CAL brand has been synonymous with innovation and a favorite among car enthusiasts. Founded by Alex Xydias and Pete Chapouris, two of the most influential people in the high performance car industry, SO-CAL is based in Pomona, CA with nine licensed shops around the country. SO-CAL also recently filmed The Learning Channel’s reality show Hard Shine, which followed five apprentices vying to become a fabricator for the shop.

In 2007, Nitches acquired licensing rights from SO-CAL Speed Shop® for the categories of t-shirts, jackets, fleece, and pants.

The target customer is a 35-60 year old male who has a love for cars, from hot rods to Ferraris. The first styles to be introduced will be high quality screen printed 100% pima cotton t-shirts incorporating SO-CAL iconography and bearing the design influences of hot rod cars, nostalgic motorcycles, and the need for speed. One of SO-CAL’s more publicized cars and
symbols, the "1948 SO-CAL Lakester" built by Alex Xydrias and recently featured in the Robb Report and The Rodder’s Journal, will be a key element in the designs of the new line. The line will eventually expand to include woven shirts, jackets, fleece tops and pants.

The SO-CAL® line is sold to better department stores and men’s specialty stores. Retail prices range from approximately $54 to $65 for t-shirts.
